Amanda became aware of her Anti‑D and Anti‑C antibodies during routine prenatal bloodwork with her third pregnancy. Within just four weeks, her titers rose from too-low-to-titer to 2048, and at 23 weeks her son Leo developed severe HDFN and hydrops fetalis. He required six intrauterine transfusions, and the hydrops fully resolved after the third procedure. Leo was delivered at 35 weeks on December 6, 2023, and spent 5.5 weeks in the NICU, needing an exchange transfusion and two post‑birth transfusions before his body began making its own blood again. Today, Leo is a thriving 2.5‑year‑old.
Amanda lives with her husband Chris, her daughter Annabelle (6), their dog, and Leo. Her experience with alloimmunization has shaped a deep commitment to helping other mothers feel informed, supported, and empowered to receive excellent care. As a member of the Patient Advisory Board, Amanda is passionate about amplifying family voices, strengthening education, and ensuring that no parent faces HDFN alone.
