Juan M. González Vélez, MD PhD joined the Maternal Fetal Medicine division at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 2012. He obtained his undergraduate degree and his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico. He then completed his Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Gonzalez is currently the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division Director and the Chief of Obstetrics at UCSF. He provides care to pregnant women from a wide range of socio-demographic backgrounds, including those who only speak Spanish. He has a particular interest and expertise in fetal transfusions for fetal anemia due to alloimmunization and other rare etiologies.
